Hamsters as Pets: Quick Facts

Here is some brief and basic information about hamsters as pets.

Hamsters are an adorable small pet to care for, and are relatively easy without a long time commitment. You will still need to provide adequate space and mental stimulation for your hamsters, but they are less demanding than other types of pets.

Although hamsters are typically thought of as children’s pets, they are not recommended for children under 10 years old because they can bite (hard!) occasionally if they are disturbed, and they are nocturnal.
